Home Learning

Reading is our main priority for home learning and we should be reading at least 5 times a week for at least 20 – 30 min. We understand that there are things happening outside of school hours and we are flexible with days that we read as long as we manage the 5 days out of the 7. Diaries are the best way to keep track of this.

Each student should be bringing home at least 5 word study words each week that is generally chosen from words that have been used incorrectly in their own work. We aim to test ourselves each Friday and have new words allocated by Monday but sometimes our schedules may alter.

There may be additional works sent home such as Inquiry research or even Writing tasks. Some students take it upon themselves to enhance their learning and consolidate their learning from the day, or finish work that wasn’t completed in class time. I encourage them if they so choose as long as it doesn’t impact on them having some down time to themselves after a long day in the classroom.

We like to use a couple of online devices to assist in the home learning process in 5/6D. Each student is allocated individual logins that are unique to them.

Below are a couple of our regularly used sites.

For Reading:

Through this website, each student has a level allocated and aim to assist in their progression.

For Math:

Students have been allocated units of learning to assist with what we are learning in the classroom and can brush up on their skills.
